Day
1 Addis Ababa – Awash.Drive Addis- Awash National
Park. On the way visit the Crater Lakes of Debre-Zeit and
have lunch with traditional coffee ceremony in one of the
lake side hotels. Upon arrival in the Park head for game
viewing and to Awash Water Falls O/N Awash.
Day 2 Awash – Mille. In the morning head to game viewing
and bird watching and to the Palm spring. After breakfast
drive to Mille. On the way visiting the nomadic people of
Afar and the inhospitable desert with its flat and challenging
scenery, which hosted another point of interest, the Yangudi-Rasa
National Park. The park is known for hosting the most endangered
African wild ass. O/N Mille.
Day 3 Mille – Asaita. Drive to the town of Asaita,
which was the former Capital to the Afar people and a base
to explore the different salt lakes. After getting to Asaita,
visit Lake Afambo, Gamari and a visit to the Tuesday market
of Asaita is fascinating. O/N Asaita
Day 4 Asaita – Djibuti.Drive, further to Djibouti
via Eli Dar. O/N Djibuti
Day 5 Djibuti - In the morning have city tour of the town
to the Place Menelik, Place Rimbaud (the famous French poet),
the colourful central market and the Les Caisses Market
known for having sellable souvenirs of cobras, leopard skin,
frogs and bats. O/N Djibuti
Day 6 Djibuti – Assal. Early in the morning head to
the famous lake of Assal, known to be one of the lowest
points in Africa with a total of 153m below sea level and
the 4th in the world. O/N Assal
Day 7 Assal – Djibuti.In the morning return drive
to Djibouti with a visit of the nomadic Afar people, some
taking out salts from the lakes. O/N Djibuti
Day 8 Djibuti – Abbe. Drive to the other inhospitably
situated Lake, Lake Abbe, one of those ancient lakes that
dates around 6000 years old and has been a site of exploring
different animals fossil. O/N Camping
Day 9 Djibuti.In the morning head back to Djibouti. O/N
Djibuti
Day 10 Djibuti- Dire Dawa.Have train transport to Dire Dawa.
After arriving Dire Dawa, have a city tour to the market
places and in the evening drive to Harar for admiring the
hayena feeding scene. O/n Dire Dawa
Day 11 Harar. Full day site seeing of the walled city of
Harar (the 4th Islamic center in the world) namely, the
traditional Harari Museum, the famous poet, Arthur Rimbaud`s
former house, the Grand Jami Mosque, the Ras Teferi`s (last
king of Ethiopia, Hailesilassie) former house, the colourful
Christian and Muslim Markets. Finishing the tour drive back
to Dire Dawa. O/n Stay
Day 12 Dire Dawa – Addis Ababa: Drive back to Addis
on the way visiting, The different market places, the Chat
(a mild stimulant) Farm and the breath taking scenery of
the road.
